www.HowToRunBarefoot.com Barefoot running is really catching on. If you’re interested in pursuing the sport, here are some tips to help you get started!
Regretfully, I began running in VFF to learn “barefoot running”. After a few weeks I tossed them and kept going real Barefoot. The two are not the same. For me, the VFF allowed for bad habits and form. Ran my first Barefoot 5K two weeks ago over every terrain, including cobblestone!
I would recommend not using VFF to start with, if making the transition from normal running shoes; bare feet will let you know much more effectively than VFF when you should back off and stop, so you won’t overdo it / injure yourself. You can use VFF later if you want, once your musculoskeletal system has adapted to a correct barefoot running technique.
Superglue is often use to close up cuts. It is used in emergency rooms and clinics. The glue disinfects the wound and the bonds skin instantly. If you haven’t tried this, put a drop on your finger and then just touch your fingers together. The glue will seal the cut and allow it to heal much quicker cause there will not be any moisture retained (as if you had a band-aid)
This video if friggin’ hilarious. First they tell you not to listen to anyone. Then the lady says find a road without a lot of crap on it. All the talk about “conditioning” your feet totally contradicts what I read by a guy in the military that’s been doing this for 12 years. Do your thing people!
so that crap doesnt get into the cut.. if you have ever had superglue on your hand, you will notice its a pretty effective adhesive and well… keeps shit out xD dont know if I would recommend it tho… superglue in your bloodstream cant be too good
i suggest not always incrementing your barefoot distance, that is, make sure you give yourself a few easier days between increments.
this is true of any exercise, muscles are more injury prone when you dont give them breaks (i.e. less distance or complete rest, depending on your condition)
okay. . so, running barefoot, being barefoot at all, iz all part of being natural, but what of super glue to heal cuts? i’m not being silly here; just wondering. it just seems to me quite unnatural and possibly toxic. any words on that?
@malooch123 Running barefoot isn’t necessarily about being natural. Most people do it because it is thought to prevent most modern running injuries (caused by running shoes), and make you a stronger faster runner. Now the super glue is just used to treat small cuts you might get. its supposes to keep it closed and keep dirt and air out of a cut. It wont harm you, but you shouldn’t use it on deep cuts. And there are other options like derma bond and other skin glues.
5 minutes for week 1 and 10 minutes for week 2? That kind of advice isn’t going to work for everybody. In fact, it’s probably too much volume and too much of an increase in volume for people who haven’t run barefoot in years.
@Zlatimov
Interestingly enough, what we call “super glue” was originally developed by the military as a way to quickly seal cuts in the field where there’s not time to stitch them up. But I’d think you wouldn’t want to do this and put it in your bloodstream unless unless really an emergency…
“that don’t have a lot of crap on them”.
Nice.
whats the super glue for?
@Moderm101, to seal a cut on your foot. You can use superglue on any small/minor cut, and it works well. Their is a medical form of it also.

I thought the “crap” comment sounded very academic myself too. LOL!
Also, Vibram is pronounced “vee-bram.”
Pretty good video, I highly recommend reading “Born To Run” by Chris Mcdougal, a great overview of the logic behind barefoot running.
DON’T LISTEN TO ANYONE, just listen to this video trying to hawk you their $85 water socks

im guessing you mean the vibram fivefingers…
Why they show them is because its the only type of shoe that promotes a barefoot technique
I can say as a barefoot runner this video is crap…
and I agree with devonkeim

So what is the super glue for? You put that in your cut?
