i’m learning to forefoot strike, and what i’ve learned from reading on the google barefoot group is to NOT run on the ball of your foot. it’s a beginner mistake trying to overcompensate by thinking HEEL=BAD. people who’ve run barefoot their whole lives don’t do this. they glide their foot into a whole foot landing. their calves aren’t straining to hold their bodyweight up while on the ground. let the heel kiss the ground. relax… it’s not a sprint.

@nawhead thanks for the tip! You’re definitely right! I should have mentioned in my video that I come from a forefoot running background (I’ve been a forefoot striker in all of my running shoes ever since high school). Therefore I was describing barefoot running form from the perspective of someone who is used to being on their toes all the time. Would it be ok if I gave you a shout-out in my next video as I talk about this distinction?

@TheDailyRUN definitely! i think it’s super important to not cripple yourself while learning to forefoot/midfoot strike (like me, oops!). being unable to walk might be discouraging for some ppl.
