RX-8 controlled from an iPod Touch

www.geekmyride.org. Quick demo of accessing a web server linked to an Arduino in my RX-8 from an iPod Touch so it can be started, stopped, locked/unlocked, current location shown on Google Maps, and engine parameters displayed. More info at www.geekmyride.org or browse directly to the car itself at rx8.oxer.com.au

  2. Griffin1554 says:

@partyreeco come on, let him.. if he likes to do stuff like that then respect that! You don’t have to call him ‘the nerdiest fuck’ for that. Bet you can’t do it!

  3. Tamaslammer says:

….or you could just use your key…..
…when you’ve figured out how to make that car go get me a pizza….. call me….

  5. enel1221 says:

all i have to say is hackers…

  6. SuperHouseTV says:

@hwangytangy9 There are several Arduinos. There’s a Duemilanove under the dash wired into the ignition system as a custom ignition controller, and I also have a stand-alone logging / telemetry system based on a Mega. The design of the Mega-based system is partly written up in my book “Practical Arduino” (I can’t post a link, but if you Google for “practical arduino vehicle telemetry platform” it’s the first result)

  7. hwangytangy9 says:

shits sick, what type of ardunio did you use? the dec or the micro? I couldn’t see it in the video. Do you have an onboard lcd to show tele in the car?

  8. Delta9son says:

@SuperHouseTV wow so, there is a fat kid behind you with a key you chode.

  9. SuperHouseTV says:

@blazedapple Really? Seen a remote key that can do real-time engine telemetry from anywhere in the world? Or send data to Google Earth to generate a 3D overlay of vehicle performance/location?

  10. blazedapple says:

    it’s called a remote key?

  11. CarrieRulesTheBlock says:

if one dude made this then imagine what data the governments already have on your new cars

  12. CarrieRulesTheBlock says:

    @kill058 no you dont

  13. SuperHouseTV says:

@partyreeco Yeah well, I’ve got pretty used to being called a nerd. Even the Sydney Morning Herald called me “Australia’s Geekiest Geek” (if you Google that phrase you’ll find a story about it). I love inventing / playing with technology, so I suppose that’s just the way I’m labeled

  14. partyreeco says:

Holy fuck you are the nerdiest fuck on the planet if that’s true no agency but I’m just stuned

  15. kill058 says:

bullshit cuz its a Manuel and u have to put in the clutch to start it.

  16. MrRwallach says:

sooo fake its not even funny

  17. Deathlysses says:

Wtf u think i am stupid you are using your remote key to unlock the car and start the engine ???????

  18. ZouloumOSX says:

    @SuperHouseTV he probably built it

  19. DarkKnightBob1o1 says:

    Awesome setup!

  20. ThaKillahCrime says:

@mexicanista101 as the guy is showing its a self build system in his car so u can basicly built ur own system in any car u want u just need to know if ur doing it correctly or not incase u fuck up ur system or ur car so u can build this in any car u basicly want :D correct me if im wrong plz

  21. ulrickob1 says:

    great;)

  22. Failtacular100 says:

    Awesome! What’s this app called???

  23. SuperHouseTV says:

@njzboripapi You obviously didn’t pay attention to what the system in the video can do or look at the site linked to in the video info. The Viper system (which I believe came out after this video was made) doesn’t have real-time telemetry, integration with Google Maps, and other stuff in this home-made system

  24. njzboripapi says:

man thats just a viper alarm system that came out recently

  25. mexicanista101 says:

CAN I USE IT IN A 2011 CORVETTE ZR1 CAN I PLZ ANSWER BACK
